Red Dwarf

This is a SOS distress call from the mining ship Red Dwarf. The crew are dead, killed by a radiation leak, the only survivors were Dave Lister who was in suspended animation during the disaster and his pregnant cat who was safely sealed in the hold. Revived 3 million years later, Lister's only companions are a life form who evolved from his cat and Arnold Rimmer a hologram simulation of one of the dead crew. There was enough food to last 30,000 years but only one After Eight mint and everyone was too polite to take it.

Those were the opening credits for the best Sci-fi comedy to date in the BBC's history. 10 years this show has been running and it's about to enter into an eighth season with a movie franchise on the way after that.

Red Dwraf is the story of the last human alive in the universe, a universe that has no aliens whatsoever, a fact that makes this show unique in its genre. Dave Lister is the main character, a Scouser whose life started when he was found under the pool table in the Aigbuth Arms. Curious twists of fate have meant that he has constantly been moving further and further away from Earth. After catching a Demi-lightspeed Zipper to the Saturnian moon of Mimas after a Monopoly Board pub crawl, he has gone to the outer reaches of the solar system to deep space 3 million years from Earth to alternate universes and to altogether different planes of reality.
