After Solo was frozen in carbonite at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, Luke vows to rescue him. With help from Lando Calrissian, Leia, Chewie and the Droids he infiltrates Jabba's palace and proceeds to carry out a daring rescue.

Firstly, Luke needs to battle the Rancor, a huge pet of Jabba's that provides sport when the giant smuggler becomes annoyed with someone. Once Luke had defeated Rancor, Jabba becomes furious and decrees Solo, Chewbacca, Leia and Luke be thrown into the Pit of Karkoon, the resting place of the all powerful Sarlakk. This is where Luke produces the goods utilising the Jedi techniques he has so far learnt, he takes on Jabba's entire army of guards and wins, leaving the sail barge a wreck.

The small group of rebels leave Tantooine, Leia, Lando, Solo, C3P0 and Chewie head towards the rebel fleet massing near Solust and Lukeand R2 head back to Dagobah to complete Luke's training.
